About the ADFC...

The Australian Defence Force Cadets (ADFC) are a community based youth organisation structured in a similar manner to that of the Australian Defence Force. Members of the ADFC are aged 12 ½ to 18 and voluntarily attend local training sessions on a regular basis as well as field training exercises, ceremonial parades, community functions and events, community fund raising projects and leadership development courses; all outside of the normal school curriculum.

In addition to their support for the community, members of the ADFC undertake a program of personal development training including:

  • History, Customs and Traditions
  • Teamwork and Leadership
  • Equity and Diversity
  • Ceremonial Drill
  • Navigation
  • Field Craft
  • First Aid
  • Communications
  • Adventure Training
  • Survival Training

The ADFC operates with the support of the Australian Defence Force and local communities. The adult staff that supervise the program, many of whom are former or current serving members of the ADF, dedicate much of their time to ensuring that the program continues to operate safely and efficiently providing opportunities Australia's youth to learn and become valuable members of the community.
