ASIC Return and Retention during COVID-19
The Aviation and Maritime Security Division (AMS) published a document on Monday 20th April 2020 with updated ASIC returned card guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The notification advised airports, airlines and issuing bodies of the requirement for ASIC holders to immediately return their card in the event they are stood down from their current role due to COVD-19.
“An ASIC holder is required to return their card if they no longer have an operational need to hold it. This includes card holders who have been temporarily stood down or laid off as a result of COVID-19.
Airports, airlines and third party issuing bodies must make sure all ASICs are accounted for and, as required, immediately returned to ensure cards are not misused or held by an employee without an operational need”
As an agent of Veritas it is your responsibility to ensure cards are returned in a timely manner either to Veritas as the Issuing Body or the airport directly.
As per the directive from AMS, Veritas will retain the cards for up to 6 months or until expired upon which date the cards will be cancelled and destroyed.
If you wish to return cards to Veritas to be retained please notify our ASIC Coordinator [email protected] and return the cards to: 67 Milligan Street, Perth, WA, 6000.
Please note only cards issued by Veritas are able to be returned to Veritas, all cards must be returned to the appropriate Issuing Body.
AMS have advised they will review their guidance within 6 months. We appreciate your support with this directive.
