Best of Cairns
Here at ASSET, we treasure the opportunity to work with our regional partners to deliver programs and training solutions across Australia.
And with each opportunity to train and engage with regional communities we discover the thriving small businesses who keep communities running, supporting each other and providing a boost to their regional sectors.
At ASSET we understand how important small businesses are and that’s why we love to show our support by letting you know where you can find the best small businesses in the area when you are training with us.
There is so much to love about Cairns, the beautiful weather, the markets, the lagoon. But it’s the small businesses that make a big impact. Here’s our pick for the best small businesses to visit and patronise while you’re attending our courses.
Best cup of coffee
If you’re looking for somewhere to grab an amazing cup of coffee you have to try the Sipping Duck. This cafe even does it’s own small batch roasting so you can buy their beans to take home or ship them back to you.
This gorgeous little cafe is run by owner Erik Ruelin, a half French/half Australian with a passion for good coffee and an extensive knowledge about roasting the bean. They roast their high altitude beans daily on site. Now that’s a fresh cup of coffee.
Best Breakfast spot
Before heading over to class, start the day off right with a gorgeous breakfast at Two Blocks Cafe .
This beautiful spot includes a seasonal menu using local produce. Try their Two Blocks Breakfast Muffin with wagyu and pork sausage, double cheese, folded egg and chive hash. Ah-mazing.
Best Lunch Menu
If you’re feeling peckish and you’re looking for a some true blue Aussie seafood head over to Blu Marlin Bistro. Located right on the water’s edge, this stylish bistro offers patrons everything from classic pub fare such as steak sandwiches and burgers to a full seafood platter with all the trimmings. We would highly recommend them for a spot of lunch with a spectacular view.
Best Cocktail
If you’re just parched and ready for some cool refreshing cocktails we recommend stopping in at Three Wolves. As well as offering a sophisticated menu with bespoke cocktail creations, Three Wolves also offers cocktail and whisky master classes, which is such a cool date idea for a fun night out.
Get a Fresh Cut
Need a bit of a freshen up? Are you after a fresh look? Many something to help you land a new job? Head over to Berry Lane Hair they specialise in colouring but offer a great range of services.
Definitely go check them out.
How about a Shave?
If you’re looking a little scruffy and you want a good beard trim or a whole new facial hair look, we recommend heading over to Refuge Barber and Apparel . These guys not only offer full barber services but they also stock local clothing brands. This is a fantastic business to support in the Cairns area.
So when you’re next on campus in Cairns with ASSET, show these local businesses some love. Pop in for coffee at the Sipping Duck, grab lunch at Blu Marlin Bistro or get a fresh shave with Refuge Barber and Apparel.
And let us know what your favourite spots are around Cairns. We love to hear from our students.
