May is Small Business ‘Focus’ Month @ Asset College
To coincide with Queensland Small Business Week – 28 May – 1 June, Asset College has launched Small Business Month @ Asset.
“Queensland is home to more than 426,000 small businesses (those employing less than 20 people) that are at the core of every industry sector. They are in every community in every region, represent over 97% of businesses statewide, and employ approximately 44% of all private sector workers.
Small businesses complement the economic activity of large organisations by providing them with goods and services, and make up the backbone of the supply chains of larger projects. They power regional development and are the gateway through which many people enter the economy.
The Queensland Government offers a range of programs and resources to help small business to start, run and grow.”
FUNDED TRAINING FOR SMALL BUSINESS
A micro business is usually comprised just of one person – you! But that doesn’t mean it makes it any easier to run. There is a lot of set up involved even when you decide you just want to become a contractor. Asset College’s Certificate III in Micro Business course can help you to develop your business proposal, put it into place and improve upon it throughout the course of your business journey.
This course is funded under the Certificate 3 Guarantee program for eligible participants.
In Australia, small businesses are those with less than 50 employees and a turnover of less than $25 million annually. Doesn’t sound that small does it? In reality, small business owners have a lot of responsibility to their customers and are likely to have a number of employees to manage. If you’re starting or growing your small business, a Certificate IV in Small Business Management will help you to plan for the future, manage your finances and establish a marketing plan.
Funding under the Higher Level Skills program is available for eligible participants for this course.

Many people dream of leaving the 9-5 and starting their own business. Ah, the freedom, the ability to do what you want when you want and just working for yourself. Doesn’t it sound great?
There is no doubt that owning your own business can be rewarding, but it takes a lot of work to get there. Persistence is key but also knowing about how the world of small business operates is helpful too especially when you are just starting out.
Having foundational knowledge of small or micro business operations can see you rise above those who do not take the time to earn their stripes. If you’re already running a small business or considering taking the plunge, consider vocational training that will set you off on the right foot / stay on the right footing.
