CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations

Suitable for those wanting a basic Security Providers Licence for unarmed security jobs in WA.

This qualification reflects the role of a security officer, responsible for maintaining safety and security by patrolling, protecting or guarding property while unarmed, and screening entry, monitoring behaviour and removing persons from premises.

This qualification is intended to align with the following occupational licencing outcomes:

  • security officer – unarmed guard
  • security officer – crowd controller.

Course Outcomes

Upon successful competition of this course, a Certificate II in Security Operations (CPP20218) qualification.

First Aid is also included in this course.

We ensure our students have the knowledge and skills to not only be confident in their chosen job but also to pass the WA Police examination to get licensed in WA

Entry Requirements

For entry to this course you must:

Be eligible to apply for a WA Security Providers Licence:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Have not been convicted of a disqualifying offence in the past 10 years
  • Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold an appropriate Visa to work in Australia
  • Complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment

Asset College in partnership with Delta Training Academy are not a CRICOS provider, we cannot accept enrolments from people who hold a student visa.

Units of Competency

The Certificate II in Security Operations includes a total of 14 core units.

This qualification is based on the licensing requirements to obtain a WA Security Providers Licence and therefore units within this course cannot be changed.

  • CPPSEC2101 Apply effective communication skills to maintain security
  • CPPSEC2102 Apply legal and procedural requirements to work effectively within a security team
  • CPPSEC2103 Apply WHS, emergency response and evacuation procedures to maintain security
  • CPPSEC2104 Apply risk assessment to select and carry out response to security risk situations
  • CPPSEC2105 Provide quality services to a range of security clients
  • CPPSEC2106 Protect self and others using basic defensive techniques
  • CPPSEC2107 Patrol premises to monitor property and maintain security
  • CPPSEC2108 Screen people, personal effects and items to maintain security
  • CPPSEC2109 Monitor and control access and exit of persons and vehicles from premises
  • CPPSEC2110 Monitor and control individual and crowd behaviour to maintain security
  • CPPSEC2111 Apply security procedures to manage intoxicated persons
  • CPPSEC2112 Apply security procedures to remove persons from premises
  • CPPSEC2113 Escort and protect persons and valuables
  • HLTAID003 Provide first aid

If you already hold a current First Aid certificate but it is more than 12 months old, you will need to complete a CPR Refresher in order to apply for or renew your licence. This can be done as part of your course and is strongly recommended.

Delivery Options

Face-to-Face Training

The face to face component of this course will run for 10 days, 8.30am – 5.00pm.

Please note, there is additional online study workbooks to be completed by you before and after the face to face workshops in order to satisfy the requirements of this course.
