Developed by Asset College over several years with input from dozens of firearms experts from across Australia, this course sets a new standard for professional roles in the firearms industry and pathways for career progression.
This course is suited to individuals in both the public and private sectors with the ability to be contextualised to suit organisational requirements.
This qualification is designed to provide participants with general and technical skills to work in specialised functions within the firearms industry.
The qualification includes knowledge and skills which are essential to ensuring public safety, including working within a complex legislative framework, making ethical decisions, managing risks, demonstrating proficiency with firearms, and a broad range of specialist competencies for key roles within the industry.
Specialist firearms personnel working at this level will apply knowledge and skills working autonomously in a broad range of contexts; and be responsible for the induction, training and supervision of others with varying degrees of competence.
This qualification may be delivered using any type or category of firearm which is authorised under the firearms legislation in the State/Territory where the training and assessment is being conducted.

Units of Competency
The Certificate IV in Firearms requires a total of 12 units, including 7 core units and 5 electives. Selection of specific units is required where a specialisation is sought, and additional units may be completed and issued on a Statement of Attainment.
