SIR40316 Certificate IV in Retail Management

This qualification is being removed from Asset College’s scope of registration. Any existing students or new enrolments must have completed their study in full by 30th of October 2020.

Are you ready to move into a retail management role? Learn the skills needed to succeed as a manager in the constantly changing retail environment.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in a diverse range of retail settings including speciality retailers, supermarkets, department stores, and quick service restaurants. Build on your existing retail or customer service experience and move into a management role with this qualification.

As a Retail Manager you:

Entry Requirements

What do I need before I start?

Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who have completed:

OR have relevant industry employment experience in a job role that has involved the application of skills and knowledge described in core units of competency from the SIR30216 Certificate III in Retail.

You will require intermediate English language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills.

Before commencing this course, you will be required to undertake an Online LLN ASSESSMENT. Upon enquiry, you will be sent an invitation to complete.

If you are completing the course via an online or RPL delivery mode, you will need access to a computer with word processing, PDF reader capabilities and an internet connection.

Please be advised we are unable to train students on a student visa. You must find a CRICOS registered training provider.

This course is approved for Austudy/Abstudy/Youth Allowance with Centrelink.

To complete this course you must demonstrate competency in a total of 11 units. These units have been selected to give you the most comprehensive overview of the retail sector at a supervisory level.

*If you wish to change one or more of your elective units please contact us. While we endeavour to be able to provide all options, changes to elective units cannot be guaranteed. The cost for custom unit packaging is $500 per qualification for full study or $250 for RPL.

Delivery Options

Standard Online Delivery

1 unit per month for up to 12 months. Includes regular contact with a trainer. Should allow 20 – 25 hours per week to study.

Accelerated Learning

For people with prior knowledge, skills or qualifications. 2 units per month for up to 6 months. Should allow 30 – 40 hours per week to study.

Assessment Only / RPL

For people with evidence of their extensive experience.

We aim to have all RPL assessments finalised within 12 weeks but it is usually much quicker. The actual timeframe depends on the course you are seeking RPL for, how long it takes you to supply the evidence and how long it takes us to verify your evidence.

The number of hours outlined is a guide only and each individual will learn at a different pace. Students may request an extension or submit their assessments early as required to suit their individual learning needs.

Course Fees

Fee-for-service

Total investment: $2920

First payment: $620

For online courses, the initial fee payable comprises of an enrolment fee plus the first unit fee.

A training plan will be created for you outlining the agreed delivery time frame and a payment schedule provided outlining staged payments aligned to final assessment.

Payments can be scheduled via a zipmoney payment plan or paid as you progress via agreed payment method. Please note that there are no refunds for the initial enrolment/first unit fee or agreed unit delivery per the training plan schedule.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Total investment: $1710

Before enrolling, you will be required to complete a Free Skills Assessment to determine your eligibility for an RPL pathway.

After an initial assessment, if you wish to proceed, you will complete an Enrolment Form and be issued an invoice for an initial 50% deposit of the total investment. This is non-refundable. Throughout the RPL evidence gathering process if gaps in evidence are identified and full study is required, the training plan and fees will be discussed with you.

If you are eligible for full RPL on your qualification, on completion of the evidence gathering process you will be issued with the final 50% invoice to be paid prior to issuing of your certificate.

You will have 90 days to submit all appropriate evidence for your qualification. Should you exceed 90 days an extension fee will apply.

Extension Request Fees

Should you require an extension on your study, an extension fee of $100 per request per month is required.

Assessment Re-Submission Fees

Should you be deemed not competent after 2 attempts at a unit of competency, an assessment re-submission fee of $100 will apply per assessment.

Re-Enrolment

Should you wish to cancel your course or your enrolment is cancelled by us due to no progress and you then wish to re-enrol, a re-enrolment fee of 25% of the standard course fee will apply if requested within 3 months of initial cancellation. If re-enrolment is requested within 4 – 12 months of initial cancellation, 50% of the standard course fee will apply.
