Essential entry requirements
Entrants to the Certificate IV in Firearms must:
- Be over 18 years of age
- Meet the fit and proper person legislative requirements for possession and use of firearms in the relevant Australian State/Territory
- Be able to demonstrate safe handling experience with firearms, evidenced by completing a firearm safety course (approved for firearm licensing in Australia) issued within the previous 12 months, holding a current Australian firearms licence or current employment in a role where firearms are used.
Recommended entry requirements
It is recommended that entrants:
- Have a minimum of 3 years experience in the safe handling and use of a variety of different firearms in a sporting, recreational or occupational environment
- Hold HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (or its successor) attained within the last three years
- Meet the requirements for working with children in the relevant Australian State/Territory
- Hold TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or its successor) or another relevant training and assessment qualification described in the Standards for RTO’s if undertaking the Firearms Instructor specialisation.
This course is not open to international students (student visa 500).
