Unlike the specialisation streams, the general Diploma of Operational Safety allows learners to select elective units that best match their role, experience, and career goals. Options include instructional skills, tactical operations, critical threat management, and community safety, ensuring flexibility to tailor the qualification to individual needs.

Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the nationally recognised 11346NAT Diploma of Operational Safety.

Mandatory
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Meet the fit and proper person requirements for possession and use of restricted items/prohibited weapons in your state or territory
- Hold HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (or equivalent) issued within the last three years
- Demonstrate operational experience through a security qualification, current security licence, or relevant employment in an operational role
Recommended
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in operational safety, security, or protective services roles
This qualification is delivered through blended learning over 12 months. Training includes:
- Online study, supported by a series of intensive workshops (1–3 days per unit)
- Workplace-based training requirements (where no workplace is available, these can be completed at an Asset College campus)

After completing your Certificate II in Security Operations, you can apply for a security licence through your state or territory’s licensing authority. The process generally includes:
