Crowd Control Skill Set

Crowd Controller upgrade for people with only Security Officer (Unarmed)

Only available for ASSET graduates who have completed CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations. If you have completed this qualification with another organisation and wish to add the crowd control units you will need to complete CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations.

Course Outcomes

A statement of attainment will be awarded upon successful completion of this course. This will allow for the application to Fair Trading Queensland for an addition to a pre-existing Class 1 Security Providers Licence with the licence function “Crowd Controller”. This will be a requirement for the following job roles:

  • Crowd Controller
  • Night Club security
  • Pub Security
  • Event Security

Entry Requirements

In order to undertake this course, participants must have completed a CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations with Asset College.

Must be 18 years or age or older and have had no criminal convictions in previous 10 years to be eligible for a Security Providers Licence. Note; driving offences (e.g. speeding, drink driving, etc.) are not normally disqualifying offences.

Must be an Australian Citizen, permanent resident or hold an appropriate Visa to work in the Security Industry in Queensland.

Please be advised we are unable to train students on a student visa. You must find a CRICOS registered training provider.

Participants may choose to undertake an LLN assessment with one of our qualified assessors prior to committing to their enrolment in this qualification.

Units of Competency

Elective units

  • CPPSEC2012A – Monitor and control individual and crowd behaviour
  • CPPSEC3101 – Manage conflict and security risks using negotiation
  • CPPSEC3103 – Determine and implement response to security risk situation
  • CPPSEC3102 – Maintain operational safety and security of work environment
  • CPPSEC3121 – Control persons using empty hand techniques

Delivery Options

This qualification is available through face-to-face learning only. This is a 3 day in-class experience with a qualified and experienced trainer and interactive classroom. Traditional self-paced work books are required.

Fee-for-Service (For ASSET graduates only)

For any other students who only hold Security Officer (Unarmed) and wish to upgrade you will be required to complete CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations.


Applications made for Security Providers Licences are handled by Fair Trading Queensland. This qualification covers all necessary content to allow participants to apply for an addition to their Class 1 Security Providers Licence for the endorsement “Crowd Controller”. This will incur a fee for an additional licence function.
