Overview

PSP50316 Diploma of Government Security

Available from March 2020.

This qualification covers the competencies required for independent and self-directed work in the public sector as a practitioner in government security management. It is suitable for individuals who need to apply integrated technical and theoretical concepts in a broad range of contexts to undertake advanced skilled duties in a government security environment.

Course Outcomes

One course offers many courses of action and pathways for you. This qualification is Release 1 and is the most up-to-date qualification available.

On successful completion of this course, you will be awarded a Diploma of Government Security (PSP50316).

Entry Requirements

What do I need before I start?

There are no formal prerequisite units required for entry into this course.

You will however require intermediate English language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills.

Before commencing this course, you will be required to undertake an Online LLN ASSESSMENT. Upon enquiry, you will be sent an invitation to complete.

If you are completing the course via an online or RPL delivery mode, you will need access to a computer with word processing, PDF reader capabilities and an internet connection.

Please be advised we are unable to train students on a student visa. You must find a CRICOS registered training provider.

What will I need to provide to enrol?

The minimum requirement to confirm your course enrolment is to provide us with a Unique Student Identifier and payment.

You will also need to complete your enrolment form and upload photo ID.

To complete this course you must demonstrate competency in a total of 11 units. These units have been selected to give you the most comprehensive overview of government security at a management level.

  • CPPSEC5008 Analyse threat environment and devise strategies to respond to active threats
  • PSPGEN047 Promote diversity
  • PSPGEN054 Use complex workplace communication strategies
  • PSPGEN058 Coordinate risk management

*If you wish to change one or more of your elective units please contact us. While we endeavour to be able to provide all options, changes to elective units cannot be guaranteed. The cost for custom unit packaging is $250 per qualification (excluding RPL).

Delivery Options

Standard Online Delivery

1 unit per month for 12 months. Includes regular contact with a trainer via zoom web conferencing. Should allow 20 – 25 hours per week to study.

Accelerated Learning

For people with prior knowledge, skills or qualifications. 2 units per month for 6 months. Should allow 30 – 40 hours per week to study.

Assessment Only / RPL

For people with evidence of their extensive experience.

We aim to have all RPL assessments finalised within 12 weeks but it is usually much quicker. The actual timeframe depends on the course you are seeking RPL for, how long it takes you to supply the evidence and how long it takes us to verify your evidence.

Custom Enrolment

The number of hours outlined is a guide only and each individual will learn at a different pace. Students may request an extension or submit their assessments early as required to suit their individual learning needs.

Course Fees

Fee-for-service

Total investment: $4450

First payment: $850

For online courses, the initial fee payable comprises of an enrolment fee plus the first unit fee.

A training plan will be created for you outlining the agreed delivery time frame and a payment schedule provided outlining staged payments aligned to final assessment.

Payments can be scheduled via a payment plan or paid as you progress via agreed payment method. Please note that there are no refunds for the initial enrolment/first unit fee or agreed unit delivery per the training plan schedule.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Total investment: $2525

First payment: $675

To enrol in RPL, the initial fee payable prior to commencement will comprise an enrolment fee plus the first unit fee. This is non-refundable.

After an initial assessment, an RPL training plan will be created outlining the units that can be recognised and any gap training required. The training plan will identify the payment schedule.
