Overview

BSB51315 Diploma of Work Health and Safety

Suitable for individuals who coordinate and maintain the work health and safety (WHS) program within an organisation. This qualification reflects the role of participants who apply a substantial knowledge base and well-developed skills in a wide variety of WHS contexts in a management area in many industries.

Course Outcomes

A Diploma of Work Health and Safety (BSB51315) will be awarded upon successful completion of this course.

Entry Requirements

The following prerequisite units are required before commencing this qualification.

  • BSBWHS402 Assist with compliance with WHS laws
  • BSBWHS403 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS consultation and participation processes
  • BSBWHS404 Contribute to WHS hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control
  • BSBWHS405 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS management systems
  • BSBWHS406 Assist with responding to incidents

It is also expected that participants have English language, literacy, and numeracy skills equivalent to at least Year 12 level. Intermediate computer skills are also required for entry into this qualification.

The Diploma of Work Health and Safety includes a total of 9 units:
5 Core and 4 Electives.

Core units

  • BSBWHS502 Manage effective WHS consultation and participation processes
  • BSBWHS503 Contribute to the systematic management of WHS risk
  • BSBWHS504 Manage WHS hazards and risks
  • BSBWHS505 Investigate WHS incidents
  • BSBWHS506 Contribute to developing, implementing and maintaining WHS management systems

Elective units*

  • BSBWHS410 Contribute to work-related health and safety measures and initiatives
  • BSBWHS507 Contribute to managing WHS information systems
  • BSBWHS508 Manage WHS hazards associated with plant
  • BSBWHS510 Contribute to implementing emergency procedures

Delivery Options

OPTION 1 – Study Online
Enrol at anytime. Study where and when it suits you by using our interactive elearning platform. You will have 12 months to complete this course at your own pace.

OPTION 2 – Study Online at our Facilities
Enrol at anytime. You can complete the same online course at our facilities using our resources and equipment at no extra cost. We will also have staff available to provide additional support if required. Note: Subject to availability, bookings are essential.

OPTION 3 – Study in Class
Although we do not generally offer this course in-class we can schedule a 5 or 10 day face-to-face workshop for groups of 5 or more students. Note that there may be additional work required following the workshop.

OPTION 4 – Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
