Overview
The Local Jobs Program (LJP) supports reskilling, upskilling and employment throughout Australia, supporting Australia’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is available to persons registered with Centrelink income support that are either:
and registered with a Job Active employment services provider.
Asset College is proud to have been selected to deliver key qualifications and work alongside local employment services providers and employers, to fill skills shortages in the security industry.
Asset College, in partnership with Max Employment and other employment services and community groups in the Northern Territory are pleased to launch the NT Security Careers Program.
The Local Jobs Program brings together expertise, resources and access to funding at the local level to support job seekers and their communities in each region.

About The Program
There are huge opportunities to join the growing security sector in the NT. To be eligible for the Local Jobs Program you will need to be:
Under the Local Jobs Program, funded training places are available for suitable persons which include NTSAFE police checks and licence fees.
You will also receive pre-employment support and guaranteed connections with leading employers.

Qualifications Available
Asset College will deliver the following qualifications under this program:
Completing a Certificate II in Security Operations under this program also includes NTSAFE police checks and licence fees.
Completing a Certificate II in Transport Security Protection under this program also includes a Job Ready ASIC and ASIC fees paid for on employment.
Funding is available for persons to undertake both qualifications subject to eligibility and pre-interview for roles at Darwin/Alice Springs Airports.
You will also participate in 2 days of employment readiness training on completion of your course.

This is something that not everyone realises is that security is more than just working in a pub! The role types are endless, working for private companies as well as government.
Security Guards are paid in a number of different ways. Some of the work that you will do might be shift work so it will be important to understand the different penalty rates you might be entitled too, as well as how the industry generally pays their staff.
We offer employment support for our graduates to help you get your first (and many other) roles after completing your course with us.
You don’t have to stop at becoming an unarmed Security Officer. There are a number of pathways you can take including armed, aviation, management, investigations and so many more!
