Overview

HLT21015 Certificate II in Medical Service First Response

This qualification reflects the role of first medical response workers or volunteers who provide initial care to patients. These people provide basic first aid and emergency responses in the pre-hospital/out-of hospital environment.

Course Outcomes

On successful completion of this course students will receive a Certificate II in Medical Service First Response certificate. This will be suited to the following job roles:

  • Community based first responder / Workplace first responder
  • Emergency medical responder / EMS first responder
  • Volunteer first aider

Entry Requirements

There are no formal prerequisites required for this qualification. However, it is expected that participants have English language, literacy, and numeracy skills equivalent to at least Year 10 level.

Participants may choose to undertake an LLN assessment with one of our qualified assessors prior to committing to their enrolment in this qualification.

Units of Competency

The Certificate II in Medical Service First Reponse includes a total of 9 units.
4 Core and 5 Electives

Core Units

  • CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
  • HLTAID003 Provide first aid
  • HLTINF001 Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures
  • HLTWHS001 Participate in workplace health and safety

Elective Units*

  • BSBWOR203 Work effectively with others
  • CHCLEG001 Work legally and ethically
  • HLTAID005 Provide first aid in remote situations
  • HLTAID006 Provide advanced first aid
  • HLTAID007 Provide advanced resuscitation

*Alternative electives may be available upon request but not guaranteed.

Delivery Options

OPTION 1 – Mixed Mode Study

This course is delivered through a 5 day workshop. Study at home will be required to complete this qualification. Register your interest now for this course.
