Currently, both the Queensland and Federal Governments have subsidies for small business owners to employ a young jobseeker to lend a hand in their business. Training new staff members can be a costly exercise and if your business is growing and you desperately need a hand, why not try employing a young, motivated individual in your community? It’s a win-win solution for all!
What do you have to do?
All you have to do as a small business owner is take on a young jobseeker for an internship in your business for anywhere between 4 – 12 weeks. During this time, you share your knowledge and build up their confidence in the workforce and they assist you with your daily operations.
At the end of the internship period, you can decide whether or not the candidate will fit in your business moving forward and if you decide to employ their are subsidies for small business available.
What do you get?
Not only do you get an enthusiastic and committed young person who is striving to break into the workforce in the local community but you will receive $1000 for any out-of-pocket expenses during the internship period. Asset College, alongside the person’s Job Active Provider will pay for any Personal Protective Equipment, tickets, training or compulsory pre-employment requirements you may have.
Cost to you – Zero.
Upon completion of the internship, you can then decide whether this young person fits within your business goals moving forward. If you take up the challenge and offer employment, you will receive up to $30,000 worth of wage incentives from both the QLD and Federal Government.
And.. don’t forget.
You also get to go home each night knowing that you have made a difference in the community by transferring your knowledge and skills in business to what could be a future business owner – who because of you will become a contributing member of the community.
