This aviation supervision program is designed for experienced aviation security screeners who are moving into team leader or supervisory roles within Australian domestic and international airport environments. The course develops the skills required to coordinate screening operations, manage staff and rostering, oversee the use of screening equipment, and ensure compliance with aviation transport security procedures across passenger and baggage screening areas. Learners build capability in managing human factors, fatigue risk, workplace health and safety, and situational awareness while supervising screening activities in sterile and secure zones.

Training reflects the operational realities of regulated airport environments, including passenger terminals, screening checkpoints and controlled access areas where supervisors are responsible for performance, safety and decision-making under pressure. Emphasis is placed on leadership, communication, incident response and the effective supervision of screening technologies such as X-ray and 3D CT systems, explosive trace detection equipment and body scanners. On completion, graduates are prepared to support and lead aviation security screening teams within approved transport security programs, contributing to safe, compliant and efficient airport operations.

On successful completion of this qualification, participants will be awarded the AVI41022 Certificate IV in Aviation (Supervision – Security Screening), a nationally recognised qualification for supervisory roles within regulated aviation security screening environments.

This course develops the knowledge and skills required to supervise and coordinate aviation security screening operations in accordance with approved transport security programs. Graduates gain capability to lead screening teams, manage shifts and rostering, oversee the use and performance of screening equipment, implement fatigue and work health and safety controls, and coordinate responses to incidents and emergencies. The qualification supports sound decision-making, effective communication and leadership in high-pressure airport environments where compliance, safety and operational continuity are critical.
