The White Card course (CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry) is the mandatory training required for all construction workers in WA. It provides essential knowledge about workplace health and safety (WHS), hazard identification, risk management, and your responsibilities under the law.

The White Card course (CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry) is the mandatory training required for all construction workers in WA. It provides essential knowledge about workplace health and safety (WHS), hazard identification, risk management, and your responsibilities under the law.
Asset College is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) approved to deliver this unit. Upon successful completion, students are issued a White Card directly by Asset College, recognised throughout Australia.
You can complete your training online or face-to-face, giving you the flexibility to study in the way that suits your lifestyle and learning needs.
Course Outcomes
On successful completion of the WA White Card course, you will be able to:
- Understand the legal framework of WHS in construction environments
- Identify typical construction hazards and control measures
- Recognise safety signs, incident response procedures, and site communication protocols
- Follow safe work practices and report risks on site
- Receive a Statement of Attainment for CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
- Be issued a White Card that is valid across all Australian states and territories
This qualification meets the WHS training requirements under the Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022 (WA).
Entry Requirements
To enrol in the White Card course in Western Australia, students must:
- Be at least 14 years of age
- Provide acceptable photo identification at enrolment (e.g. driver licence, passport, proof of age card)
- Have basic English language skills suitable for instruction and assessment
- For online delivery, have access to:
- A device with webcam and microphone
- Stable internet connection
- A quiet, private space for your session
- Complete a brief pre-enrolment suitability check (online courses only)
There is no 100-point EOI requirement in WA. However, you must provide valid ID to confirm your identity before your White Card can be issued.

This course includes the delivery and assessment of:
CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
This nationally recognised unit is mandatory for all individuals who intend to work on construction sites in Western Australia and throughout Australia. It provides participants with the fundamental safety knowledge to identify hazards, assess risks, and work safely in the construction sector.
Upon successful completion, students are issued:
- A Statement of Attainment
- A White Card, issued directly by Asset College
This qualification complies with the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA) and the associated General Regulations 2022.

- Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) – highly recommended for any worker or supervisor on site
